As a small boy of eight years old, Strobach was the first recorded performer to accompany John Bill Ricketts in America. Strobach served a passive role in “Flying Mercury,” the finale to Ricketts’s early shows. While Ricketts rode a horse at full speed Strobach mounted Ricketts’s shoulders and struck a pose in the “attitude of mercury.”
